BAS Automation Questions
What does the BAS Preparation Agent actually do?
The BAS Preparation Agent reads your live bank feed and transaction data, automatically categorises income and expenses with correct GST treatment, calculates your GST collected and GST paid, and prepares a complete BAS ready for your review. You review, approve, then download and lodge externally through the ATO Business Portal. The agent handles all the data work — you handle the final sign-off.
Can XIntelliSync lodge my BAS directly with the ATO?
No. XIntelliSync prepares and organises your BAS data, but final lodgement is completed externally through the ATO Business Portal or via your registered BAS or tax agent. XIntelliSync is not an ATO Digital Service Provider. This is the same process as Xero and MYOB — prepare in the software, lodge through the ATO.
How much time does BAS preparation take with XIntelliSync?
Most businesses complete BAS preparation in 90 minutes or less per quarter — down from 3–6 hours manually. The AI agent has already categorised transactions, matched bank feeds, and calculated GST before you open the BAS screen. You're reviewing and approving, not rebuilding from scratch.
Which plan includes the BAS Preparation Agent?
The BAS Preparation Agent is included in the Starter plan ($97/month, 50 agents). No additional fees, no per-BAS charges. Your first month is $48.50 (50% off).
What happens if transactions are categorised incorrectly?
The agent flags uncertain categorisations for human review rather than processing them silently. You'll see a list of transactions that need manual review before the BAS is finalised. This ensures accuracy without requiring you to review every transaction — only the exceptions.
Do I need to understand GST rules to use XIntelliSync?
No. GST treatment is pre-configured for all major income and expense categories. The agent knows professional services are taxable, financial services are input-taxed, and residential rent is GST-free. You review categorisations and correct any the agent flagged as uncertain.
What happens to BAS quarters I missed before switching to XIntelliSync?
For periods before you connected XIntelliSync, you can import historical transaction data from your previous accounting software. XIntelliSync can prepare amended BAS data for past periods — you review and lodge corrections externally via the ATO Business Portal.
Can XIntelliSync handle both quarterly and monthly BAS lodgements?
Yes. XIntelliSync supports quarterly BAS, monthly BAS (for businesses with GST turnover above $20M or who opt in), and annual BAS. Lodgement frequency is configured once during setup.
